Understanding the "30 Million Yen Total Wealth" Requirement for the "Business Manager" Status
The requirements for the "Business Manager" status of residence have been revised. One of the key changes concerns the total amount of wealth required: "The total amount of wealth allocated for the business pertaining to the application (including the amount of capital and total investment) must be 30 million yen or more."
For corporations (such as Kabushiki Kaisha (K.K.) or Godo Kaisha (G.K.)), the "total amount of wealth" is determined by the amount of stated capital or the total amount of investment.
It is important to note that capital reserves, capital surpluses, and retained earnings are NOT included in this total amount of wealth. Please be careful to ensure your capital meets the requirement.
In the case of a sole proprietorship (individual business), the assessment is based on the total amount invested in essentials for operating the business, such as securing an office, salaries for employees (for one year), and capital expenditure for equipment.
