My Number Card and Residence Card will be integrated
The "Act to Partially Amend the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act, etc." was issued on June 21st, 2024, and it was decided that the My Number card and residence card will be integrated into a specified residence card.
The effective date will be a date to be determined by government ordinance within not more than two years from the date of promulgation, but has not yet been decided.
As a result, whereas previously procedures for My Number cards were done at city or town offices, and procedures for residence cards were done at regional immigration bureaus, from now on it will be possible to carry out procedures at one location.
In addition, the content written on the specific residence card has been revised, so that only items that require immediate visual verification will be printed on the card.
