When a Child is Born to a Permanent Resident in Japan
When a child is born to a parent who holds the "Permanent Resident" status of residence, that child can also acquire the "Permanent Resident" status of residence.
However, to do so, an application must be submitted within 60 days of the child's birth.
Please note that if the application is not submitted within this period, the "Permanent Resident" status will not be granted to the child; instead, they will be granted the "Spouse or Child of Japanese National" or "Spouse or Child of Permanent Resident" status.
