Intra-company Transferee(ⅱ) will be established.

It has been decided that the Immigration Control Act will be amended in June 2024 to create a new category of Intra-company Transferee(ⅱ).
The law is scheduled to come into effect within three years from the date of promulgation.
Currently, opinions on the content of the law are being solicited through the public comment system.
According to the details, unlike the status of residence of Intra-company(ⅰ), the following restrictions are expected to be imposed on the status of residence of Intra-company Transferee(ⅱ).

• The maximum period of stay in Japan for Intra-company Transferee(ⅱ) is one year (renewal is not permitted).
• The receiving Japanese business must have a total of 20 or more full-time employees, excluding those with status of residence of Intra-company Transferee(ⅱ).
• The number of Intra-company Transferee(ⅱ) foreigners that can be accepted is 1/20 or less of the number of full-time employees.

If things remain as they are, the effective date is expected to be April 1, 2027.
