Points of caution for Highly Skilled Professional applying for Permanent Resident with their family members
When applying for Permanent Resident, the period of stay must be at least 10 years, but for Highly Skilled Professional, the period is reduced to 3 years if the point calculation is 70 points or more, and to 1 year if the point calculation is 80 points or more.
But, this special exception applies only to the applicant and not to family members.
Therefore, even if a person with 80 or more points in the points calculation applies for Permanent Resident with his/her family members during the one-year period of stay, only the person himself/herself will be approved.
In order for a family member to be granted Permanent Resident, the period of stay must be approximately 3 years or longer, so please be careful when applying for Permanent Resident with a family member.
