The scope of the residence status "Designated Activities (Notification No. 46)" has been expanded.

Foreign nationals who have graduated from a Japanese university (including graduate school) and have a score of 480 or higher on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test N1 or the BJT Business Japanese Proficiency Test are eligible for the "Designated Activities (Notification No. 46)" status of residence.
This "Designated Activities (Notification No. 46)" is characterized by a wider scope of work than the "Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services" status of residence.
The scope of "Designated Activities (Notification No. 46)" now includes international students who have graduated from junior colleges or technical colleges, and international students who have completed vocational courses at vocational schools.
However, it is still necessary to have a score of 480 or higher on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test N1 or the BJT Business Japanese Proficiency Test.
