Key Points to Note When Renewing the "Business Manager" Status of Residence

Following the recent revision of the requirements for the "Business Manager" status of residence, the list of required documents for renewal applications has been expanded.

Since transitional measures (grandfathering) are in place until October 16, 2028 (Reiwa 10), many people believe that their renewal applications can be filed exactly the same as before until that date. However, in practice, requirements other than the minimum capital amount are already being strictly checked at the time of renewal.

For instance, regarding the employment of full-time staff or staff with Japanese language proficiency, if you do not employ such individuals, you are now required to attach a written explanation (statement of reasons).

Furthermore, please note that there are no transitional measures regarding the enrollment status in Labor Insurance (Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance and Employment Insurance) and Social Insurance (Health Insurance and Employees' Pension Insurance). This is because fulfilling these obligations is a fundamental requirement for operating a company in Japan.

Additionally, there are increasing cases where the Immigration Bureau requests the submission of the Four Mandatory Statutory Ledgers:
1.Wage Ledger
2.Worker Roster
3.Attendance Record
4.Annual Paid Leave Management Ledger It is essential to ensure these records are properly prepared and maintained.
