What to do if your company doesn't pay you
Recently, a foreigner working on a working visa asked for advice, saying, "The company I was working for didn't pay me my salary for four months, so I quit and am now looking for a new job."
To put it simply, if you have not been paid even once, let alone for four months, you should immediately go and consult with the Labour Standards Inspection Office that has jurisdiction over the company's address.
In such cases, the Labour Standards Inspection Office can instruct the company to pay your salary.
Also, if you leave your company for such reasons and look for a new job, you should apply for work at your nearest Hello Work office.
If you do not do these things and leave your company but have not yet decided on a new job, you will likely be considered to have "left the company for personal reasons and not changed jobs," and your working visa renewal will likely be denied.
If your wages are not paid, we recommend that you first consult with your local Labor Standards Inspection Office.
