Regarding the new acceptance system for fourth-generation Japanese people
Previously, fourth-generation Japanese Americans were able to stay in Japan for a total of five years under the "Designated Activities" status of residence if they were between 18 and 30 years old at the time of entry and met the specified requirements.
This was revised as follows from December 28th last year.
- Raise the upper age limit for entering the country to 35 years old
- After the 5-year period of stay has expired, it will be possible to change the status of residence to "Long Term Resident" on the condition that the applicant has passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test at a level equivalent to N2 or above.
