Immigration Service Agency's residence examination processing period
The review period for status of residence applications is published monthly on the Immigration Services Agency's website.
This is the average number of days it takes to process applications for which the review was completed nationwide that month.
Therefore, at Bureau like the Tokyo Regional Immigration Services Bureau, which processes an overwhelmingly larger number of cases than other Regional Immigration Services, the review period is longer than this average number of days for processing.
In fact, many of the applications that our office has handled have taken much longer than this average number of days to process.
Of course, there are also cases where approval has been granted in a shorter period of time.
It can be worrying when the results are slow to come after you have applied.
In such cases, our Certified Administrative Procedures Legal Specialist will inquire about the status of the examination at the Immigration Services Bureau where the application was made, and will request a reminder if necessary.
However, the review will not be prioritized just because a Certified Administrative Procedures Legal Specialist has urged you to do so.
Even though, the reason why we still check the progress is to ensure that the application is not in a situation where it has not yet been reviewed due to some mistake, but is instead being properly reviewed.
