What is an “Intra-company Transferee”?
“Intra-company Transferee” is a status of residence for employees who are transferred from an overseas office of a globally operating company to a Japanese office.
In the case of "Intra-company Transferee", unlike the status of residence of "Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services", educational background or work experience is not required.
However, in order to be granted the status of residence of "Intra-company Transferee", it is necessary to have worked continuously for at least one year immediately before being transferred to Japan.
Therefore, foreigners newly hired overseas cannot be transferred to Japan with the status of residence of "Intra-company Transferee."
