If you want to continue job hunting in Japan after graduating from a Japanese university or vocational school.
Foreign students studying at a Japanese university or vocational school who are unable to find a job while enrolled and wish to continue job hunting after graduation will need to change their residence status to "Designated Activities".
The following people are eligible to change their residence status to "Designated Activities" for job hunting purposes:
- Those who have graduated from a Japanese university, graduate school, or junior college
- Those who have graduated from a specialized course at a Japanese vocational school and obtained the title of specialist
- Those who have graduated from a Japanese language education institution in Japan after graduating from a university or graduate school overseas
In either case, however, you will need to obtain a letter of recommendation from the school you graduated from.
If you have graduated from one of the above schools and wish to continue job hunting in Japan, please feel free to consult our office.
